Spanish Christmas Menu - Menú de Noche Buena
The Spanish love to hold big celebrations of all their holidays. Since Spain has a predominantly Roman Catholic population, Christmas is a huge celebration that starts in mid-December and continues through January 6th (Epiphany) when Los Reyes Magos or "The Three Kings" bring gifts to all the children.
The culinary start to Christmas begins with a late Christmas Eve dinner where the entire family gathers around the table for a multi-course feast that lasts for hours. Christmas Eve dinner is an evening all Spaniards celebrate, although their menus may differ from region to region. A Spanish Christmas Menu always starts with tapas at the bars or at home, then continues with dishes like cold langostinos, shellfish soup, and typically roast lamb and fried potatoes. Finally, traditional Spanish desserts, espresso coffee and liqueurs are enjoyed as everyone loosens their belts.
If you enjoy Spanish food, try adding a few Spanish recipes to your holiday celebrations. Remember - Christmas is less than a month away, so start planning your menu now and reduce your stress during the holidays.
