Jamon Serrano or Paleta - Equally Delicious!
Are you looking for a quick snack or something to bring to a Super Bowl party? Why not try jamon serrano (pictured here on slices of bread) or paleta (pictured below on the plate) ?
They are both delicious and both are cured pork. What's the difference between the two? Jamon or ham is from the rear of the pig, while paleta is from the shoulder area.
The Spanish loved cured meats, so there are plenty to choose from in Spanish food markets and there are hams of different qualities... and prices! A few thinly sliced pieces of ham atop a crunchy baguette is heaven. Add a few slices of cheese and a glass of wine and you not only have a snack, but a light dinner!
