Chocolate Caliente - Spanish Hot Chocolate
The Spanish are known to be a "poco loco" for chocolate, since bringing it back from the New World 500 years ago. In fact, they kept it a secret from the rest of Europe for almost a century... Today the Spanish drink rich hot chocolate for breakfast, so thick that you can stand a churro in it and chocolaterias are still popular! If the only hot cocoa you’ve ever had is the kind made with powdered envelopes of mix and hot water, you won’t recognize this incredibly rich and flavorful drink. In fact, once you try the Spanish version of hot chocolate, you might be hooked!

Homemade Fortune Cookies taste so much better than store bought. Rhonda Parkinson, About’s Guide to Chinese Food says “…besides, it’s more fun writing up your own fortunes to put in the cookies!”Our own favorite and very traditional Spanish cookie for the holidays called Mantecados - Crumble Cakes. They are so soft, they will literally melt in your mouth. Light and with a delicate anise flavor, words will not do them justice.
