The original, classic Spanish flan is a vanilla-flavored egg custard, simply baked in a water bath and its caramel sauce. Flan preparation is simple, so it's no wonder that flan is a Spanish favorite. Today, there are many variations of flan, like chocolate-orange, coffee, or orange to name a few. We like to prepare it for festive dinners because it is simple to prepare, can be made ahead of time, and refrigerated until dessert! If prepared in ramekins, you don't need to cut into individual pieces and plate. Simply turn the flans out onto individual dessert plates and let the caramel sauce drip down the sides.
Below is our list of recipes for some of the top flavored flans.
