This is a traditional, but very easy recipe - since puff pastry sheets can be purchased at any supermarket. These hojaldres are perfect for a quick dessert, afternoon snack or continental breakfast. Slice a puff pastry sheet into rectangles. Then, cut holes in the center, using an old fashioned apple corer, or the handle of a wooden spoon. Bake for about 10 minutes. Once cool enough to touch, dip the pastries in hot syrup and serve. Tony's favorite way to eat hojaldres is to dunk them in hot coffee at breakfast. One batch didn't last long in our house!
