Patatas Fritas - Fried Potatoes

Potatoes fried in virgin olive oil at home are a delicious dish that cannot compare to any fried potatoes at a restaurant. Learn how the Spanish prepare this very typical and flavorful side dish to eat with almost any main course in Spanish cuisine.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 potatoes (medium)
  • Spanish virgin olive oil for frying
  • salt to taste

Preparation:

This recipe serves approximately 6.

Peel all the potatoes. Cut each potato in half lengthwise. Slice each half length-wise into "French-style" potatoes. Salt the potatoes and toss to season evenly.

Pour oil into a large, open frying pan. Oil should be about 1-inch deep in the pan. Heat the oil on medium high heat. Place all potatoes in the pan and fry until golden brown.

Remove the potatoes with a slotted spatula and allow to drain before serving.
