Finely chop the onions and garlic.
Pour olive oil just to cover bottom of a large frying pan. Place pan on medium heat. When oil is hot, add onions and garlic and sauté until onions are translucent and soft. If mixture begins to stick, add a Tbsp more oil to pan.
