- Balsamic Vinegar Syrup
- 1 baguette
- 1/2 lb (450 gr) Spanish cheese*
- 24 shelled walnut halves
* For this recipe, choose any semi-cured or soft cheese with a light flavor, although a Spanish cheese is preferred. Some examples of Spanish cheeses to use: Burgos, Tetilla, or San Simon.
Prepare the Balsamic Vinegar Syrup (30 minutes preparation) and then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour in a squeeze bottle.
Cut the baguette into ½-inch slices. Lightly toast on both sides.
Just before serving, assemble the tostas: Thinly slice cheese and place a slice on each piece of toast. Using a squeeze bottle, squirt ribbons of balsamic syrup over the cheese. Top with a walnut half and serve immediately.
